2 Corinthians 10:5

“We destroy arguments and every lofty opinion raised against the knowledge of God, and take every thought captive to obey Christ,”

Where does belief “live”? Some may argue in the heart, or in the spirit of a person, but I would argue that what we believe first lives in our minds, before anywhere else. The beginning of the Christian life is knowing. Knowing who Christ is, who we are, and what we have been called to do. This means we must be ready to fight and defend the home of our faith, because there are enemies at its gates ready to break in and steal what we hold so dear to our souls. As a Church, we must individually and corporately pursue the knowledge of God to battle all thoughts, arguments, and opinions about Him, to protect our faith, and remain steadfast in our pursuit of Christlikeness.

On Team Day, we looked at 1 Corinthians 12:12-27 and were reminded that the church is like a body with many parts, and every part is needed. God has placed each of us right where He wants us and given us gifts to give away, not to keep. We saw how comparison can keep us on the sidelines, but when we understand that our position matters, even when nobody sees it, we can faithfully play our part.

We win together as one team, serving the same God, on the same mission. Jesus didn’t come to be served, but to serve, and He got in the game for us. So we don’t just attend church. We join the team, play our position, and use what God has given us to help connect people to Jesus.

One of the ways we live out our mission of being FOR Long Island is by showing up and serving organizations already making a difference in our community.

On October 10, Connect Church has an opportunity to serve at the Bethel Hobbs Community Farm Fall Festival and help create a fun, welcoming experience for local families.

We need people willing to serve.

If you would like to dedicate your child at Connect, our next Child Dedication Class is October 7 at 7:00 PM online.

This class will help you understand what dedication means and prepare your family for taking that step together.

If you’ve decided to follow Jesus but haven’t been baptized, this class is your next step.

We’ll talk about what baptism means, why Jesus calls us to it, and help you prepare to go public with your faith.
